For some albums that I converted to OGG artwork is always shrunk from 1000-1200 pixels to 200-somthing, while for others the size is kept the same. WMA>OGG, WMA>FLAC, FLAC>OGG, FLAC>MP3 all do this. Artwork is embedded in music file. Changing artwork for a different one does not help. If the reason is not in source format or picture file, maybe the reason is in the tags of the track file, but I couldn't find which ones cause the problem.

There are two places, where you can set options to resize the covers.
One is global for all formats - https://imgur.com/Hrc9dFM
Other is for each format (e.g. Ogg) - https://imgur.com/Y8tsY9q
Please check if you have any of those option set.
If it still doesn't help, please send the diagnostic information (it's under About button) to xrecode@gmail.com as well as one input file (or the whole album) so that I could reproduce the issue.
You could use https://wetransfer.com if the file is too big.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the settings and none of them are checked.
I found out though that Xrecode sees the source artwork as 200 pixels, not 1200 https://imgur.com/3KbJczo
While all other programs I opened it with - MusicBee, MPC-BE, Mp3Tag - show the big image and its correct size.

I just tried to remove the tag completely with Mp3tag and then recreate it. Didn't help.

I tried with your settings and it worked fine as well.
I see that you have this option enabled - https://imgur.com/M30wVR0. If it's enabled, program will always use the external cover (folder.jpg or folder.png or similar in the same folder as the source file) instead of the embedded one.
Please disable it and try then.

There were hidden jpg files (probably left by Windows Media Player), and the setting you mentioned made the program use them instead of embedded files.
