[SOLVED] Wav to WavPack while preserving all metadata (markers in particular)

Post by GrooveExtractions »

Hi,

I'm trying to convert wav files that I edited in Adobe Audition to the WavPack format (there are 32 bit files in there). Markers were added to the files and I'd like to preserve them. The goal is to save a bit of space as I have hundreds of GB occupied by those files (audio restoration).

First, I had to disable "use input file chapters" in XRECODE settings because it absolutely wanted to split any original wav file into multiple .wv ones due to the markers I added.

I tried multiple things, even using the official wavpack exe binary inside XRECODE and see if my markers would be kept in the output files. Alas, it wasn't the case.

From what I understand, the official binary used as a command line tool outside of XRECODE, and the Windows frontend both keep all metadata coming from wav files by default.

So my question is : is there any option to convert from wav to wavpack without discarding markers in XRECODE?

My experience is that dBpoweramp also discards them by default which is the opposite of how the official binary works.

A recent and related topic from HydrogenAudio forums with some details from the wavpack codec developper : https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php?topic=119477.0

My XRECODE build is the latest portable one (64 bit, v1.106).

Could you, please, send one such wav file with the markers to xrecode@gmail.com? You could use https://wetransfer.com.

I think it works with any wav file whatever the audio editor used but here's an example, it's a 30 seconds test tone I generated in Adobe Audition, I added a marker each 5 seconds : https://we.tl/t-j1TGKEp2Im

I tried converting it before upload with the wavpack.dll included in XRECODE and it did remove the markers as I expected.
