[SOLVED] split by silence does not split

hi,
i have an entire album as m4a and want to split it in single tracks. i think, that split by silence would be the right function, but it does not split the file into several files. what steps do i have to do to it work? tried even with flac.

But i think, that i found the "problem": all files i tried were multichannel files - either quadro or 5.1. that in mind i tried an stereo-album, that works as expected.
is there a chance to split multichannel-files? or what workaround do you know? extracting one channel, then splitting, then cue-sheet, then splitting the mch-file with that cue?

OK, I see. It's tricky with the multi-channel ones as e.g. LFE channel will most likely be silent most of the time.

just sended the file, but it does not depend on the file. it is not only the lfe, but in my case (quadro mostly in 5.1) there is also the center channel silent.
perhaps you have an easy workaround. or you implement some kind of checkbox which channels to be observed for splitting (eg. fl - fr)?


edit: you could mark the thread as solved, perhaps with the hint, that split only works for stereo or mono files (or files without channels with silence?).

Fix was to internally convert the audio to 2.0 and then find the silences. Seems to be working with your test file
