Create Dummy (silent) Channels in MCH FLAC Output

Hi There
I wish to transcode vintage Quadraphonic 4.0 files (FL, FR, RL, RR) to current 5.1 channel format, and generate dummy or "silent" data for Centre & LFE channels.
The input files are 4.0 FLAC, and desired output is 5.1 FLAC. Will setting the Matricies panel appropriately take care of this task ?
Also, will the non-data channels contribute significantly to the final file size ?
