thanks for the reply

For me the extract method will result in a .dff file which my oppo105D will not play.!

I tried other encode options as shown below.

The source is a SACD iso 6ch - 32 bit - DST64 - bitrate 16935kbps/CBR - Sample rate 2822400/352800
resulting files are checked with mediainfo
extract to dff result = 6ch - bitrate 16.9Mbps - sample rate 2,822khz
encode to Wav64 = 6ch - 32bit - bitrate 67.7Mbs - sample rate 352.8khz
encode to flac = 6ch - 24bit - bitrate 43.2Mbps - sample rate 352.8khz
encode to alac = 6ch - 24bit - bitrate 44.6Mbps - sample rate 352.8khz
encode to ape = 2ch - 24bit - bitrate 15.5Mbps - sample rate 352.8khz
encode to wav = 6ch - 32bit - bitrate 67.7Mbps - sample rate 352.8khz
encode to aiff = 6ch - 32bit - bitrate 67.7Mbps - sample rate 352.8khz

These are the error messages when encode failed..
encode to ac3 = ff_encode_audio failed ([1] avcodec_encode_audio2 failed : Invalid argument, buf_size=36864 -22
encode to Wavpack = Could not load library E:\Downloads\setup_xrecode3_win_64bit_1.110_portable\XRECODE3_Win64\bin\x64\wavpackdll.dll : 126
encode to DSD = Executable file for the selected destination is missing.
encode to ogg = vorbis_encode_setup_init failed

I am expecting to be able to playback the extracted files on my Oppo105D both multichannel and stereo files and up til now Flac has been successful. But you will see that the flac encode done through Xrecode3 does not result in a 32bit depth file.

So Q..
1. can you please advise which format will best work on the Oppo 105D for stereo and for multichannel file played from a Nas ?
2. why did some encodes fail as above ? I am hoping that Xrecode will be my "swiss army knife" for all me future audio projects. Which up to now has been succesful mostly using dbpoweramp converter.

Thank you for your time and effort in finding a solution to my issues.
cheers CD

This is weird. Are you installing the program or using the portable version?

Hi there
The installed version is working better..

Encode to DSD now worked but is still .dff file. My Oppo105D will not play a .dff file. > Is there a parameter that can be changed in Xrecode3?
Wavpack worked but resulted in an 8bit 6ch 88.2khz file. > Is there a parameter that can be changed in Xrecode3?
Flac encode still reduces the bit depth from 32 to 24bit.! > Is there a parameter that can be changed in Xrecode3?

The error messages when encode failed are the same..
encode to ac3 = ff_encode_audio failed ([1] avcodec_encode_audio2 failed : Invalid argument, buf_size=36864 -22
encode to ogg = vorbis_encode_setup_init failed

So can the two failures and the above parameters be corrected.? Cos so far only wav type files are useful but too large..
