[SOLVED] merge to mp3 id3 track tag

The most recent updates seem to have broken the ability to set the track id3 tag on resulting files when merging mp3s. Resulting file track id3 tag always empty instead.

Program saves the track number in the merged file only of all source files have the same track value.
Also, please update to latest beta version, as there are some small fixes in the Metadata editor -
https://xrecode.com/test/setup_xrecode3 ... _1.158.exe
XRECODE 3 [64-bit] - 1.158 [Beta 2024-10-17/2567]

I am still having issues trying to merge MP3s with a Track Number defined in Xrecode3 metadata editor. Trying to save new Track number to Multiple MP3s in list does not work. Resulting Merged MP3 always has empty Track Number field in editor. I assume I could use mp3Tag to change the track tags prior to merging, and I may end up with the merged MP3 the way I want. That however, is no less work than assigning the track number to the merged MP3 which is what I've been doing.
I didn't have this problem with older versions of XRecode3. Unfortunately, I don't remember which version this new behavior started in. I'm thinking 3 or 4 versions ago. It's not a huge problem as I can obviously work around it, but it still seems like this behavior is not 100% intentional unless I am simply misunderstanding something fundamental.
I'm using the 32 bit version of Xrecode3 1.159 if that makes any difference.

Here's an update to try -
https://xrecode.com/test/setup_xrecode3 ... _1.160.exe
XRECODE 3 [32-bit] - 1.160 [Beta 2024-12-09/2601]
If it still doesn't work, please describe in steps what you're doing and what exactly isn't working so that it's easier for me to reproduce and fix the issue.

That seems to have done the trick. Thank you

Seem to have a problem with the track variable/track naming scheme when merging to mp3 again. It's not blank, but random so far as I can tell.
Metadata tab successfully sets the id3 tag for track, but naming scheme track does not match when merging to mp3.

as an example
Expected file name from naming scheme when merging to mp3 would be: "Jim Valetta - Revolution - 04 - One Gun - Fiction.mp3"
Track in id3 metadata does get set to "04", but resulting file name is "Jim Valetta - Revolution - 16 - One Gun - Fiction.mp3"
Addendum... since most recent update id3 tag for track is now getting set to "01" and naming scheme track is resulting with "16" in the file name for some reason.

Most recent result:
Merging 43 tracks to mp3
using CTRL+A to select all tracks in Metadata tab
Track Field is set to "06"
Resulting File name when using Track variable ended up as "28"
Id3 tag for track in resulting mp3 file gets set to "01"

Most recent result:
Merging 50 tracks to mp3
using CTRL+A to select all tracks in Metadata tab
Track Field is set to "08"
Resulting File name when using Track variable ended up as "34"
Id3 tag for track in resulting mp3 file gets set to "01"
Tried saving metadata changes before merging this time... didn't seem to make any difference with resulting merged file.

Could you please send the Diagnostic information (it's under the About button) to
xrecode@gmail.com? I've tried to reproduce the issue using method you described, but it works fine for me so I'd like to try using your exact settings.
